Extra-tidal star candidates in globular clusters of the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy

چکیده
Globular clusters (GCs) associated with the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Sgr dSph) have evolved under gravitational potential of both Sgr dSph and Milky Way. The effects these potentials are most pronounced in extra-tidal regions as compared to central GCs.We aim study GCs that possibly dSph, namely Arp 2, Terzan 8, NGC 5634, 6284, 7, 2419, 4147, M 54 Pal 12, using data from {\it Gaia} early release 3. We selected candidates based on their angular distances cluster centre RA-Dec plane, proper motions individual star candidates, positions colour-magnitude diagrams clusters. found for nine studied GCs. For eight them, surface density candidate stars vicinity is significant excess respect more distant surrounding fields. No extended features beyond 5 tidal radii were detected any publish a list probable we determined Gaia astrometric photometric data. Our analysis shows likely affected by Sgr, distribution elongated same direction local stream. 4147 only exception. some high-probability several analysed failed detect coherent large-scale tail around them.

The exotic chemical composition of the Sagittarius dwarf Spheroidal galaxy
Context. The Sagittarius dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy is the nearest neighbor of the Milky Way. Moving along a short period quasi-polar orbit within the Halo, it is being destroyed by the tidal interaction with our Galaxy, losing its stellar content along a huge stellar stream. Aims. We study the detailed chemical composition of 12 giant stars in the Sagittarius dwarf Spheroidal main body, together ...
متن کاملThe Planetary Nebula population of the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
The identification of two new Planetary Nebulae in the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy (Sgr) is presented. This brings the total number to four. Both new PNe were previously classified as Galactic objects. The first, StWr 2-21, belongs to the main body of Sgr, from its velocity and location. The second, the halo PN BoBn 1, has a location, distance and velocity in agreement with the leading ...
متن کاملMetallicity gradients in the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal Galaxy
Metallicity gradients in the Sagittarius dwarf Galaxy (Sgr) are investigated by using infrared photometric data from the 2MASS survey. To search for metallicity effects, the giant branch in a field situated near the Center of the Sgr is compared to the giant branch in a field situated near its southern edge. The contamination of the Sgr giant branch by foreground Galactic stars is canceled by s...
متن کاملBlue Horizontal Branch Stars in the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy
We report on the recovery of a Blue Horizontal Branch (BHB) population belonging to the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy (Sgr). The sequence is clearly identified in the (V, V-I) Color Magnitude Diagram (CMD) obtained for about 500,000 stars in the region of the globular cluster M 54. The BHB morphology is similar to the analogous sequence in M 54, but it is unambiguously associated with Sgr...
متن کاملHI observations towards the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy
We have measured the λ21 cm line of Galactic H i over more than 50 square degrees in the direction of the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy. The data show no evidence of H i associated with the dwarf spheroidal which might be consider analogous to the Magellanic Stream as it is associated in both position and velocity with the Large Magellanic Cloud. Nor do the H i data show evidence for any ...
